Privacy Policy
ClipNest is a local-first Markdown vault for capturing and organizing notes. This policy explains what information the ClipNest app handles and when information can leave your device.
Information ClipNest does not collect
ClipNest does not operate an account system, advertising network, analytics service, or tracking system. We do not collect or sell your notes, clipboard contents, photos, files, device identifiers, or usage activity.
Information kept on your device
- Your Markdown files and attachments are stored in the vault folder you choose.
- Quick Paste reads clipboard content only when you invoke the feature or when the app is active for that purpose. The content is used to create a note in your selected vault.
- If you choose a photo or image, ClipNest processes it for the requested workflow. On-device OCR uses Apple Vision; selected files remain under your control.
- App preferences and configured provider credentials are stored locally. Provider credentials are kept in Apple Keychain.
Optional AI providers
AI features are optional. If you configure and use an OpenAI-compatible provider, the text or image you submit and the prompt needed for that request are sent to the endpoint you choose. ClipNest does not route that request through a developer-operated server or retain a copy. The provider may process the request under its own privacy policy and terms, so review the provider’s practices before using the feature.
Permissions
ClipNest may request access to files and photos so that you can choose a vault, attach images, or import content. You can manage these permissions in your device settings. The app does not need an account or login to use its local Markdown features.
Children’s privacy
ClipNest is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app’s data handling changes. The revised policy will be posted on this page with a new update date.
